This past week on a marvelous (but short) vacation to visit my dear friend in Los Angeles, I went to Amoeba Music, a gigantic new and used music store in Hollywood. I snagged Green Rocky Road by Karen Dalton. I thought I possessed all the Karen Dalton that was available, but somehow I missed the June release of this fantastic and unique album. I am very happy to have stumbled across it! I also bought a reissue of two Townes Van Zandt albums from 1972. Both of these were great finds and I’m enjoying them very much.
But that’s not all. Leave all your judgments aside and come with me as I invite you to participate in what might become the album of my summer: Half Breed by Cher.
Let’s ignore the factors in my life that lead me to purchasing Cher in the first place and just let the songs speak for themselves. Play it loud. Groove on it hard. Get your hands on the entire album; not one song is disposable. Who can fucking say no to this shit?
It’s way too time consuming to upload the whole album, so I’m providing links in the form of youtube videos for your enjoyment. Also, you’re not gay if you like Cher. You might be, actually, but you don’t have to be. It’s for everyone. Click away!!!
Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves It is very important you stand up and let the music move you. Get unabashedly groovy.
Dark Lady
No words.
Half Breed DISCLAIMER: This video may induce panic attack, but let it ride. Just ask my friend Jojo about that. I think Cher’s sultry get up really caught Jo off guard. I don’t want that to happen to you.
Don’t Hide Your Love: I swear I did not make this video! But I wish I did.
Holy shit, half breed.
