John McCain or Barack Obama?
Well, the real answer to that question is actually whose supporters would win in a fight (This is democracy, after all!) When i went home to New Jersey the other day I saw how suburbanites show their support with lawn signs. (Montclair, of course, was full of Obama signs.) In the city, where a front lawn is hard to come by, I’ve noticed who supports who by checking out the pins and hats all kinds of people wear to show their support. I decided when I was online donating to Obama that I’d get a pin to flash my support. I got one that said NJ for Obama. But there were so many pins; Obama Pride, Independents for Obama, Women for Obama…so many pin options for his supporters! Cool!
Then I thought I’d check out McCains merch– see how it matches up. He’s got some interesting buttons too…
Okay, so who would win in a fight:
Well, neither one of these pins are very good. I don’t know why writing “women” in script seems more womanly or genuine–but never the less, Obama Women have to take this one. It’s simple and strong. McCain’s button is whack. Why the yellow and the stupid doily wispy things? Obama women would certainly pound McCain women.
Battle of the Jews. Now, for those of you who can’t read Hebrew, the Hebrew just spells out Barack Obama (a pretty strange name to see in Hebrew, huh?) This one seems pretty obvious. Graphically, Obama’s is better. And the Hebrew gives it the real authentic flair. I mean, who is scarier: an American Jew or someone who reads Hebrew? I’d say the one who reads Hebrew probably has family in the Israeli army or is at least real intense about it. “Jewish Americans” is just the second half to Jewish American Princess, and we all know how lame those are. Eek. Obama 2, McCain 0.
For the next match, I’ve put a button Obama has that McCain doesn’t against a button McCain has that Obama doesn’t…

This is actually a pretty easy one. Yesterday I was witness to one of the most celebratory days in NYC; the Pride Parade. All over my neighborhood there were people in the streets waving rainbow flags and holding the hand of their loved one. It was pretty great. But, the St. Patty’s Day parade ain’t bad either! I confidently choose Pride for Obama in a fight against Irish for McCain. Think about this: Irish people are gay too! So the Pride team still has the fightin’ Irish on it’s side! Perfect. Obama wins again. (Plus, how great is that pride button?)
McCain does have a section in his store for Arab Americans, which Obama actually does not. He gets one points there. But he also has some bumper stickers that say “Business Leaders for McCain” and “Sportmen for McCain” which is minus two points.
In conclusion, Obama’s merch store is better, snazzier, and more inclusive. So go buy some stuff and support the cause!
