Summer is here. It is fabulous. I am having fun. Here are a few things in particular I am psyched about:
1. Not only did John Edwards endorse Barack Obama (HURRAY!) but if you watch the video you can hear “The Rising” by Bruce Springsteen playing in the very beginning. It’s faint but god knows it pierces my soul. This news (the endorsement, not the Bruce), is very exciting. I got a little sick of the Hillary lovefest, but I’m psyched because I know that Obama has the nomination and that he might really be the next president of the United States. This is almost unbelievable. I was starting to believe that there was no light at the end of this primary tunnel. But I see the light! (Come on up for the rising tonight…)
2. My summer book group/reading list!
If you want to eat brie cheese, drink red wine, and chat about these books on a weekly-ish basis, you should get in touch with me, city dwellers.
3. Making great meals. Today Ken and I made hummus (so good) and tasty fresh spinach salad with some avocado and lemon dressing I made. Delicious! Brittany and I satisfied our munchies with a quick walk ever to Trader Joe’s and made cornbread with chocolate covered sunflower seeds inside. Damn good. Plus, it’s officially summer produce time! Peaches, plums, watermelons, and berries galore! I might have to go back to NJ for some good Jersey style backyard BBQ, but I’m willing to make the trek. We will eat well this summer, as always.
4. Listening to On The Beach, my favorite summer Neil Young album.
Also, sing-a-longs with friends (”crazy chester followed me and he caught me in a fog…” or “turn it up! that’s enough! So you know it’s got soul!“) are things to be psyched on.
Of course tan skin, excessive grass smoking, beaches, and Sex and the City: The Movie are all added bonuses. Summer is awesome!!! yeeahhhhhhhh.
UNRELATED SIDE NOTE:
How similar do Winnie Cooper and Karen Dalton look?

That Kraut bastard lost my “Tin Drum”. We’ll talk.
never thought i’d feel this way, but…TOO MUCH WINNIE COOPER?!? i’m sure i’ll be ready again in a week or so.
